Trail Art

“I’ve been in beautiful landscapes where one is tempted to whip out a camera and take a picture. I’ve learned to resist that.” (David Byrne)

I haven’t quite learned to resist that yet. I don’t hate photos, but I do think they alter an experience of a place. So I like to bring my art with me and paint in place of a photo sometimes. These small pieces of trail art are rarely finished. I sit down where I can, paint what I feel and see, and then continue on my way.

Some artists I really look up to (Rhiannon Klee, Craig Muderlak, Nikki Frumkin) do this too. My goal, as I learn how to better pair adventures with art, is to do this as often as I can!
